about the story
Dorothy moves to click her ruby shoes
Right in tune with dark side of the moon
Someone, someone could tell me where I belong
Be calm, be brave, it'll be okay
~ Guster, 'Come Downstairs and Say Hello'
SYNOPSIS: During a constant search for something special about herself, insecure fifteen year old Keavy Ashworth puts one foot in front of the other with extreme care when she walks and always second-guesses herself. She doesn't fit in or stand out and she keeps to herself; she doesn't know how to open up.
After becoming close friends with local celebrity Zac Hanson, these things start to change for the better when she finds that his silly antics compliment her own. Keavy takes pride in what little independence she has, and no one can make her do anything, but Zac conquers her stubborn nature when he starts to make her feel things she's never felt before.
His presence in her life makes her realize all of the many special things about herself, including him and their relationship. But as her new love becomes more and more sacred to her, Keavy finds she can't hide him, or herself, from the world that always renders her life imperfect.
